Interview with the Assistant Constructor!

Zuzanna Frąckowicz:

Susanna is a civil engineer and is pursuing a master's degree with a specialisation in KBI. She is the third generation in her family to be professionally involved in construction. She did not choose architecture because her analytical mind wins out over her artistic soul.

Ambitious in every way, she told us what her plan is to get her entitlements necessarily before 30.

1 How did your adventure with Rex-Bud Construction begin?

At the Technical University of Łódź, at the Faculty of Construction, Architecture and Environmental Engineering where I study, there is a steel structure design auditorium under the auspices of Rex-Bud Budownictwo. During my studies, I was a member of the Student Scientific Association ”Momencik„, in which I served as president for over two years. There, I got to know students from different years more closely and, during behind-the-scenes conversations, I learned about the largest General Contractor, Rex-Bud Budownictwo. When I heard in 2024 that the company was taking part in the ”Young in Łódź' programme and funding Space Scholarships for the best students, I decided to apply. Thanks to my high average in the previous two semesters, participation in a conference, a grant and other academic achievements, I was awarded the funding and became an ambassador for the company. And from February 2025, I took up the position of Assistant Constructor.

2. what are the responsibilities of this position and what processes are you involved in?

Primarily structural modelling and preparation of drawing documentation in a BIM environment using TEKLA Structures. I also work with architects, site engineers and clients. I prepare technical, detailed and as-built documentation.

3 What did you find most interesting or challenging when you took the job at Rex-Bud Construction?

I found it most interesting to work on large projects using real-time shared models and to be able to collaborate with architects. The biggest challenge, on the other hand, was remembering to make revisions - at university I was used to overwriting files, whereas here there are specific rules to organise the changes made.

4 What advice would you give to junior students?

Get a job as soon as possible, even if it is part-time, try your hand at construction and office work - put into practice what you we learn at university. Be open to new experiences, take part in all initiatives, i.e. competitions, study circles, grants, conferences, because, as you can see from my example, this opens different doors.

5. What are your future career plans?

Obviously completing a master's degree. And then getting my qualification - I'm assuming responsibly that I need a minimum of 2 years' experience on site and 2 years in an office. So by the time I'm 30, I should be able to make it 🙂 Privately, I'm facing a lot of changes - I'm going to have to make a lot of changes. moving to the Tricity following her heart and a lot of preparation to put on a white dress and change marital status in a year's time.

6 Zuza, will you share with us what connects your passion to our business profile?

One of my greatest passions is cooking. At work as much as in the kitchen, I always try to take a task-based approach to everything, but at the same time I never forget my creativity.
