From construction to the Guarantee Department

Agata has been working with us as a Construction Engineer since 2023, she started her adventure on a construction site in Dobrzykowice before moving to Rzeszów, where she realised a cross-dock hall. After the completion of this project, Agata received an offer that could not be refused, the support of the Guarantee Department....

After working in the department for 2 months, we asked her a few questions about how it was for her on Nieszawska.

1. How would you describe the main role of the Guarantee Department in the company?

The main role of the company's Warranty Department is to support the investor in solving problems that may arise after the completion of the project. It is not only handling issues covered by the guarantee, but also helping in the case of non-warranty defects by proposing solutions and coordinating arrangements with the potential work contractor. A well-functioning warranty department is of great importance for the company's image, especially when applying for new contracts. It is proof of the high quality of the work carried out and a testament to reliability and responsibility towards customers. A professional warranty service builds trust, gives investors a sense of security and is an important element of the company's competitive advantage in the market. Although I was initially surprised and sceptical about the role the company offered me, in retrospect, I believe it was a good step towards developing my career in construction.

2. what are your most important daily tasks? What challenges do you most often encounter in this job?

My tasks include:

maintaining positive relations with investors,
maintenance of facilities,
effective coordination of warranty work,
daily mobilisation of subcontractors to resolve warranty claims in a timely and reliable manner,
high quality service for investors and tenants,
comprehensive maintenance of the facility, including liaison with tenants and subcontractors.

Day-to-day communication with clients is not easy, as requests are most often about problems and defects, and investors are contacted to resolve specific issues. However, composure, professionalism and effective management in such situations is key to building trust and long-term business relationships.

3 What skills are key in this role?

From my point of view these are:

knowledge of construction processes,
analysis of technical documentation,
identifying the problem and referring to the scope of the guarantee,
efficient handling of construction documentation and project materials,
the ability to find quickly and accurately in difficult situations,
communication skills,
negotiations with subcontractors,
assertiveness and the ability to motivate and engage others to implement the necessary corrective actions.

4. Does your previous experience of construction help you in your current role?

Thanks to my practical knowledge of ongoing projects and the creation of documentation, I know exactly which companies are responsible for which scopes of work. In situations where substitute work is required, my knowledge of the contractors and their specialisations enables me to contact the relevant parties efficiently and coordinate the repair work effectively. This greatly streamlines the execution of tasks and builds up an image of professional and comprehensive process management on our part as general contractor.

5. what career opportunities do you see after gaining experience in the Guarantee Department?

It is definitely a step in the right direction:

increase awareness and skills in construction process management,
gaining the ability to enforce contractual provisions and established schedules,
to know the contractual documentation,
knowledge of construction technology and the ability to analyse potential technical solutions.

This is an excellent basis for achieving the position of Construction Manager and ultimately Contract Manager.

6. What do you value most about the job?

Above all, a variety of tasks and constant challenges.
